On my quest to become more flexible in yoga, I had another small victory yesterday. In extended side angle pose I could never get my hand all the way down to the floor. Instead, I rested my arm on my leg like you see in this illustration. The full pose should look like this image from Yoga Journal.
I don’t know why I didn’t try it before. I guess I was afraid I would lose my balance or that it would hurt my back. Imagine my delight as my arm slowly went down my leg and onto the floor. I didn’t fall over, and instead of feeling pain in my back, it felt amazing!
Woo hoo! I’m conquering my fears and getting deeper into my yoga practice. It feels so good. Now I’ve got to work on getting over my fear of head stands!
