Words of Wisdom From the First Woman to be Published in the U.S.

Winter Woman With Coffee

“If we had no winter, the Spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometime taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

Anne Bradstreet

I felt like the woman in this picture yesterday. I don’t know where Spring went in Northeast Ohio, but I would like it to come back!

Anne Bradstreet is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of American Literature and also the first woman to have a book published in the United States. Not an easy task for a woman in the Puritan times of the 17th century.
